Sandor F. Genet, ESQ., was born in Miami, Florida, May 7, 1949; admitted to Florida bar, 1973; Admitted to practice before U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida 1974; U.S. Court of Appeals, 5th Circuit, 1979. Florida Bar Board Certified, Marital and Family Law. Education: University of Miami, (B.A., 1972; J.D., 1973). Co-Author of Article, “DeFacto Marriage,” The Family Law Commentator, March 1993. Member of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar. Clerked for Circuit Court Judge Henry Balaban 1972. Actively began the general practice of law August-September 1973. Genet & Genet began partnership in September 1973 with Martin Genet. The practice of law included all aspects of Real Property Law; Trial Practice, Marital Law, Probate, Trusts and other areas related to the General Practice of Law.
In approximately 1977 he began speaking, lecturing and round table discussions to men’s organizations formerly known as United Fathers. The area of said discussions included all aspects of Marital Law but more specifically related to the need for a two-parent family system upon dissolution of marriage; rights of former spouses to participate and involve themselves in their children’s lives; specifically, in regards to divorce or separated parents. In approximately 1980 he participated in providing recommendations as well as lobbying the State of Florida Legislature in regards to adoption of joint custody law which was not enacted but instead the current Shared Parental Responsibility Statute was enacted.
Since approximately 1989 he began specializing in the area of family law/trial practice. He has handled numerous mixed marriage divorces; marriages of Orthodox Jews with non-orthodox spouses; litigated cases that dealt with the Husband’s failure to provide the Wife with a GETT. He has handled hundreds of contested divorce cases. He is board certified in marital and family law in Florida since 5/24/91. In approximately 1995, he was invited by Dade Circuit Judges to their monthly meeting to discuss the application of Florida law as same is applied to obtaining a Jewish divorce “GETT.”
